Let’s you play your favourite sport - anytime, anywhere with anyone!
Problem statement
A side project that came to existence over a conversation with few friends about how we used to go and play sports in good old days, but since we have moved to different jobs in different cities it is always difficult to find time, people and place to play the sports we like.
Proto persona: Who would ideally use such product?
- ■ Identified friends who used to play together on regular basis.
- ■ Conducted telephonic calls with few who relocated because of higher studies or jobs.
Proposed solution
Based on the interviews, a few points were identified which needs to be solved or at least addressed to some extent to help the proto-persona type users.

This project started off with an individualistic need to meet and play with people who like similar sports, and the below sections show how this app design helps the user to achieve the same.
Onboarding
Onboarding takes first time users through the main features of the application - What all they can play nearby, how to grow their network, Smart co-ordination to save time, money and most importantly efforts!
1. PlayUp home

We have the relevant and nearby venues and people for you to get going. See whats trending nearby you, and be the part of the event activities of interest.
1.1. Send matchup invites
Play the sport of your choice at top rated venues suitable for your needs with friends or people around your location with similar interests. Sending a matchup invite is just a swipe away!
2. Messaging: Integrated with social networks
Grow your network by connecting to people you play with using PlayUP via Facebook, Twitter or Google+ account seamlessly and instantly.
2.2. Micro-interactions: Accept / Reject match invites
Forgot to inform your match buddies about your last minute back out? No worries we got you covered, just swipe up to ACCEPT or left to REJECT the event invite till a threshold time and PlayUP will make sure your buddies are not left hanging in there. AI enabled suggestive player replacement algorithm helps your team to get quality players as per your ranking and ratings.
3. Events
Keeps track and shows all the matches and events played in the past or are scheduled for future.
4. User profile
Helps the user to view their various statistics like matches played, rankings, skills, photos, followers etc.
Key learnings
This type of app which supports exploration before registering should have had no login UX flow as well.
The security aspect of the users (female / male / kids) was not considered in the product.
People generally switch back to Whatsapp for chats, once their regular group is formed, they don't have any incentive to come back onto the platform.
Even though it was just small idea, but all that matters is executing it. I discovered there were few local apps were introduced to the playstore etc.
Doing side projects is fun, and it helps in experimenting with various aspect of skills. Worked on this to enhance my UI skills back then.
